Yesterday evening when Alex got back home from work, he quickly ate dinner because he promised a certain little boy that he would take him to Starbucks! He even went the extra mile and took him to a playground nearby to play on a slide before coming home. They had a blast!
We feel as parents that no matter how tired we are, we should stop and make special time for our kids. Yes, we don't always do it but we strive to do this as much as possible. It's not always the big trips or big toys that matter to our children, it's those times that we slow down and just sit in the floor to play cars with our buddy boy or hold our daughter and just snuggle with her that they are going to remember the most.
I cherish these moments with our kids because one day they'll become teenagers and we won't be as cool to hang out with. But you know, I feel that if we nuture our relationship with them now then that bond will outweigh those thoughts when they get older.
It's an everyday battle to not get too busy in our day to day life to just stop and make special time with the ones that we love but it's sooo worth it!
